  Circle City Mystery #5

The fifth novel in the Circle City Mystery Series starring Homicide Detective, Brent Freeman as the lead detective on a homicide case that involves a child abduction and human trafficking. The stress of this case isn't all with which Brent has to deal as his girlfriend seems to grow more and more possessive.

"M. E. May has done it again with Unscrupulous, book five in the Circle City Mystery Series. This novel about human trafficking of children will keep you on the edge of your seat anxious to turn the page. As I’ve said in regards to the other novels in this series, don’t plan anything for the day you decide to read Unscrupulous, because you won’t want to put it down."

- Sue Myers, Author of Deception

"M.E. May's newest installment in her wonderful Circle City Mystery series is the best yet! Sergeant Brent Freeman and Detective Anne Samuels race against time to save children that they fear have been abducted for international harvesting, all while battling gangs and a possible traitor in their midst. This is a dark, gripping thriller that you won't be able to put down. May's writing is superb, and I love how she weaves in some personal problems for Freeman as well. Did she also leave a possible hook at the end for the next book? I am already looking forward to it! Great read!"

"UNSCRUPULOUS is an intriguing mystery with warm intent. The author cares deeply about her characters, especially the children, and so draws the reader in too....Readers will cheer author M.E. May for crafting such an enduring story, while hugging close their own children and grandchildren."

"I thoroughly enjoyed reading Perfidy (book 1) (
read my review here) and Purged (book 4) (read my review here) in this outstanding series by M.E. Mays. These are definite stand alone novels-there is no problem reading them out of order...Will the detectives manage to find Maricella and apprehend the kidnappers. You will be reading and sitting on the edge of your chair until you find out!!"

This may be the 5th book in a series but I would never have guessed that by the author’s writing. Normally I feel like something is missing or that I don’t understand a relationship between people, and while I think there is more history between various characters, I didn’t think that stories were half told about something that happened in the past….There are a few surprises but all in all I felt the story flow kept me interested and it was hard to put the book down.I might have to go back and read the first 4 books one day. We give this 5 paws up.

This is a spine-chilling, edge of your seat thriller and extremely addicting. I’d not read any of the other books in this series, yet it was a complete novel on its own. The subject matter makes this a difficult read, but the plot is well-written and very fast-paced. The characters were credible and convincing….Rating 4 out of 5.
