August 30, 2011
I'm back from the Killer Nashville Mystery Conference that was held August 24 to August 28. Nashville, Tennessee, was as lovely as ever with loads of friendly people.
The conference itself was jam-packed with educational opportunities. It was wonderful to meet Dr. Bill Bass and to hear his opening remarks regarding forensic science. I learned everything from how to determine the age of a victim to what sort of weapon created the hole in several different skulls. Yes, he brought his own skulls with him.
I met TBI agents, paramedics, a retired NYPD officer, and psychologists. I learned everything I wish I didn't have to know about psychopaths and mass murderers, as well as several great ways to interrogate a suspect. I was also privileged to be in workshops with several of my fellow authors who presented workshops on marketing plans, publicity and promotion on a small budget, and event planning. So much in such a short time! Now all I have to do is absorb and apply.
It was a good time of networking, meeting new friends, and connecting with people I hadn't seen for a while. Now I'm ready to get back to work!!!
